Another confirmation to Rachel's comeback

March 12 2010 by Saara

We were at a party last night – as you do – and Rachel Stevens was there. We waited for a chance to sashay on over and tell her that Come and Get It is one of the best albums of all time. And, of course, to have a nose about the rumours we’ve heard of her popping into the Fascination records offices and such like. She only went and confirmed that she’s coming back to planet pop. That was an absolute definite “yes” when asked if she was going back to music. Bless her, she never stopped smiling while we squealed and asked if she was going to be working with Xenomania and signed to Fascination, home of all things pop. “It’s early days,” was all she’d say with her cheeky grin.

Rachel at a charity show at the Radlett Centre

March 9 2010 by Saara

Dancers dazzled a sold-out audience during two performances of a “musical spectacular” at the Radlett Centre this weekend. More than 70 dancers, aged between three and 18, from the Vanessa Class School of Dance, which is based in Bushey, took to the stage for the two-hour production. And among those in the crowd were Thomas Law, who plays Ian Beale's son Peter in EastEnders, on Saturday and former S Club 7 singer and Strictly Come Dancing contestant Rachel Stevens on Sunday.

The show mixed song and dance, with every element of the show, including music, costumes and choreography, overseen by Vanessa, from Little Potters, in Bushey Heath. Vanessa, who began the preparations last September, said: “I get the most amazing buzz and excitement and adrenaline just watching the kids perform after six months of dance classes. It's the most unbelievable feeling. Even the kids that cannot dance, they still look amazing and you're so proud of what they have achieved. “They [the dancers] love it. They moan in classes about having extra rehearsals but when it comes to the weekend, they are so excited about doing it.” Vanessa began dancing when she was three, went to stage school and later trained with the Vienna Festival Ballet Company.

Like her mother, she became a dance teacher, instructing her pupils in ballet, tap and jazz. She ran two schools in Elstree and Harrow for 12 years before having children of her own. Then when they were three, Vanessa opened two schools in Bushey, offering tuition in jazz, hip hop and tap. Her two children, Jessica, 16, and Sasha, 15, who have been dancing since they were three, are both pupils at the school. And for the past ten years Vanessa has produced an annual show to raise £85,000 for charity.

This year she hopes to raise £4,000 for Fight For Life, a charity that supports children battling cancer. Singer Rachel Stevens is a patron of the Fight For Life, while EastEnder Thomas Law is connected to the charity through a friend. Vanessa, 46, said: “Ten years ago a friend lost her father and so I wanted to do something to raise money. The next year I lost my own father and the fundraising progressed every year. “This is now why I want to do it.” Vanessa's classes are held at Hartsbourne School and St Peter's Church hall, in Bushey Heath. For more information about the dance school, which runs classes for children and adults, telephone Vanessa on 07889 405289.

A mention of Hannah

March 8 2010 by Saara

Sheridan Smith was born in Epworth, in Lincolnshire, to parents Colin and Marilyn, a country and western duo who performed as the Daltons. It was watching and occasionally appearing on stage with them that sparked her passion for performing, and she successfully auditioned for the National Youth Music Theatre. She was cast as Tallulah in Bugsy Malone, which had a run in London when she was 16. Instead of going back home, she was signed up by an agent and moved into a flat with her fellow cast member Hannah Spearritt, who went on to be in S Club 7.

Rachel at Pre-BAFTA Party

February 22 2010 by Saara

Check out the fresh and funky look of Rachel, god I love what she's wearing! HQs are coming soon hopefully, in the meanwhile, enjoy these:

Rachel Stevens looked stunning as she showed off a curvier figure that some were comparing to Jennifer Lopez. All eyes were on the pop star as she flaunted her new J-Lo-esque figure as she stepped out in central London last night. She looked gorgeous as she arrived at Annabel's nightclub for a pre-Baftas party in a short black and white striped dress, which clung to her sexy new figure.

The 31-year-old tiny pop star definitely looked like she'd gained a few pounds in all the right places as she posed for cameras outside the private Mayfair club. With her husband Alex Bourne in tow, she completed her gorgeous look with a black clutch bag and black stiletto heels.

WOR presents: Rachel lookalike contest

February 14 2010 by Saara

Are you ready for the greatest Rachel project ever, the lookalike contest by World Of Rachel. Visit Rachelicious and choose your favourite picture, I've added over 300 hundred photoshoot pictures and the number is growing every day. Click here to see them.

OVERVIEW

Okay Ladies and Gentlemen. It's time again for the World of Rachel awards, and we're excited to announce a new category. A Rachel Stevens Lookalike contest. That's right, All of you fine people get a chance to look like Rachel. Take your favorite Rachel pose (new, old, etc) and recreate it using what you have lying around. Whether it be nothing at all, recreating the back cover of C&GI or just a comfy sweater in front of a window with a hot cup of ... nothing. Either way, let your inner Rachel out. Let's see who truly is Rachel's biggest fan. To top off the anticipation, we are going to send all submissions to Team Rachel in hopes they pass them along to Rachel and let her pick an overall winner. I've asked if Rachel could then SIGN the photograph and I'd pay for postage to get the picture sent to the winner. This however at the moment is not guaranteed - but the idea has already been sent to Team Rachel, we're awaiting a response.

RULES

01. We understand not everybody is comfortable with pictures of them being shared online, But keep in mind that this forum is a secure area and your information (and pictures) are private, User Registration is required if anyone shares pictures their IPs can be tracked and reported and appropriate action can and will be enforced.

02. We want you to pull out all stops on this. This is for Rachel and for the ULTIMATE title of Rachel's biggest fans. If Lady Gaga's fans can do some crazy stuff, so can we guys. Lets show Rachel how excited we are about her returning by showing her the best of her past.

03. Guys are included in this. We don't expect you to be pretty. Your doing this for fun. There are ways of covering up your manly features (such as leg hair, facial hair bushy eyebrows etc...) Google is your best friend

04. NO PHOTOSHOP. We want your imperfections.

05. Have fun :D

This portion of the awards is totally voluntary. No nominations will be taken, You self nominate yourself. Nobody will be penalized for not participating. This has been opened prior to the rest of the awards so everybody can prepare and ask any questions needed. We are hoping to wrap this years awards up within the first week of April. All questions and comments can be posted here or PMed to either Kate or Myself.

ALL PHOTOGRAPHS M U S T BE SUBMITTED TO DALE (PM OR EMAIL) By FEBRUARY 22, 2010. And voting will begin the following day.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask, via this thread or email.

My email is duhale@gmail.com and is checked daily.

Primeval's back, and its creator vows answers

February 13 2010 by Saara

Who doesn't like a show about freakish time-teleporting dinosaurs that terrorize contemporary humanity? If you haven't experienced that kind of bizarro fun, then you haven't caught up with BBC America's sci-fi series Primeval (also shown on Syfy). The premise revolves around a group of scientists, cops and soldiers investigating temporal rifts around England that have allowed prehistoric creatures such as mammoths, saber-toothed cats, dodos and flesh-eating fungus to wreak havoc in the present.

Despite being a three-season hit in the U.K., Primeval was actually canceled last June due to the massive budget needed to produce the ambitious CG dinos and futuristic creatures for the small screen. But the series was saved from extinction by a complicated funding partnership involving five production entities (including BBC World), which ensures it will be back for a fourth and fifth season featuring a cumulative 13 episodes in 2011.

"It's the show you can't kill," co-creator and writer Adrian Hodges said with a laugh in an exclusive phone interview on Wednesday.

Hodges revealed that he and his team are already deep into the development of season four. "We are actually just casting two or three new major roles right now. We'll have them cast in the next week or two. We also have scripts for the first six episodes and storylines and treatments for the remaining seven. We start shooting in the middle of March."

The third-season finale of Primeval left heroic team leader Danny Quinn (Jason Flemyng) trapped in Pliocene Africa, leaving fans to wonder whether he will ever return.

Hodges revealed that season four "will be starting a year later [from the end of season three]. All the cast you know will reappear, but they won't all necessarily reappear straightaway or for the whole season. However, we will be giving satisfying answers to all those cliffhangers."

You can catch up with a Primeval marathon on Syfy on March 2.

Alex is hurt

January 23 2010 by Saara

Southgate Harmen A’s title hopes have suffered a major blow after it was confirmed that striker Alex Bourne has been ruled out for five weeks with a cracked metatarsal. Bourne, the league joint-top goal-scorer on 13 goals, has helped Harmen lead the JC MSFL Division One table from the beginning of the season with two hat-tricks to his tally. The husband of pop star Rachel Stevens has scored 18 goals in all competitions.

Bourne, 31, said: “Obviously I’m extremely disapointed with the injury. I’m probably the only Jewish footballer at the moment who's hoping for more games to be cancelled. “I’m really enjoying the season and Andy Okin, our assistant-manager, has set me a target of scoring at least 30 goals this season.”

Bourne spearheaded Harmen’s Division Two title success last season and won the division’s Golden Boot. He suffered the injury at training. “I cracked my metatarsal in a five-a-side game last week. It was such a minor incident. That's what is so frustrating about it.

“I’m hoping to be back in less than the five-week timescale that I’ve been given but want to make sure that I’m totally ready before playing again. “Obviously I'd like to think that my presence will be missed by the team but we have a very strong squad and, with the amount of chances we are creating, and the quality of Lloyd Becker amongst others, I don’t think our title chances will be too damaged.

“I'll obviously try and stay fit and sharp while I’m out and I’m still holding out for getting a lot of match time with the view of making Fabio Capello's squad in the summer!” Bourne is set to miss league matches against Oakwood, Neasden B, Montana A and one other as well as the trip to Red Sea in the Anekstein.

Rachel not ready for children

January 10 2010 by Saara

While most women with a successful career over many years might look forward to starting a family, former S Club singer Rachel Stevens, left, is determined to stay focused on work.

'I am a real career girl, always working on new projects - I will not give it up,' she said.

The 31-year-old pop star and Strictly Come Dancing contestant, who wed actor Alex Bourne in August, cheekily added: 'We want babies but we've only been married a short time. Let's just say we are doing a lot of practising.'

Rachel donates her shoes

January 9 2010 by Saara

FANS of Dame Shirley Bassey are running out of time to bid for a pair of her shoes in a charity auction. She has kindly donated a pair of diamante-encrusted Yves Saint Laurent high heels, size 6, to Barnardo’s.

The silent auction for the shoes ends next Friday and can be entered via silentauction@barnardos.org.uk. Yvonne Rodgers, director of Barnardo’s Cymru, said: “This is a chance of a lifetime for someone to own a pair of designer shoes owned by one of the biggest singing sensations we have ever known.

“The person who wins will also know that their bid has helped to support disadvantaged children across the UK.” Dame Shirley and Joan Collins were among an array of stars who donated glamorous outfits to support Barnardo’s in the run-up to Christmas.

Other donations came from Swansea singing legend Bonnie Tyler, comedian Julian Clary, singers Alesha Dixon and Rachel Stevens, electro-pop band La Roux, model Laura Bailey, pop stars Lisa Stansfield and Carol Decker and M-People singer Heather Small.
